Message from HOD Civil
The Civil Engineering Programme at Government Engineering College (GEC), Bharuch, with an approved intake of 60 students, is supported by a team of 13 dedicated and accomplished faculty members. This includes five Ph.D. holders, while several others are actively pursuing doctoral research, ensuring a strong academic and research-oriented environment.
The department is well-equipped with modern infrastructure, highlighted by a Center of Excellence established in collaboration with UltraTech Cement. In addition, all essential laboratories are fully functional and regularly upgraded to meet current academic and industry requirements, providing students with hands-on practical exposure.
Our academic framework strictly follows an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach in alignment with NBA standards. This ensures that students not only gain a strong foundation in core civil engineering subjects such as structural, geotechnical, transportation, environmental, and water resources engineering, but also develop competence in emerging and interdisciplinary areas.
Emphasis is placed on experiential learning, problem-solving, and industry interaction through projects, internships, and expert lectures. The programme is designed to nurture technical proficiency, ethical responsibility, and professional skills, preparing graduates to meet the evolving demands of the engineering profession and contribute effectively to sustainable infrastructure development.
Through a balanced blend of academic rigor, practical training, and continuous improvement, the Civil Engineering Department at GEC Bharuch strives to produce competent, innovative, and socially responsible engineers.
